Handbuilding with Frankie J. Mixon
Handbuilding is the earliest form of pottery. Wares can be constructed by hand from clay coils, combining flat slabs of clay or pinching solid clay balls. This 4-week series is designed for adults who have no prior experience. Students will learn basic hand-building techniques and surface treatments to work.

About the Teacher:
Frankie J. Mixon is an SC Arts Commission visual arts fellow; Artist (specializing in pottery, clay sculptures, and mixed media); Classroom art teacher with a BA in art, two MA degrees in Elementary Education, and Reading with an emphasis in Elementary Education. Teaching philosophy: The study of art is an excellent way to promote creativity, self-esteem, and self-expression. EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL.
