Cacophony

By Jennifer Garrison

artist Reception:
Thursday, February 6, 2025
from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Artist Statement:

“My work is primarily in relief printing. I use linoleum and wood to create fanciful patterns. These motifs are printed as one-offs on paper and then printed again in color on fabric. I use the fabrics to create silk scarves, pillows, and other home textile products.

My inspiration for these designs comes from nature and historical textile designs. These sources overlap each other and diverge. I prefer to draw inspiration from natural elements, distort them, and make them more stylized. I then refer back to historical designs for layout and other elements in the composition.

I am a commercial textile designer, and have a deep love of textiles and order. I create works that can be used separately or together but fit into a specific grid scale. This way, the blocks can be printed over one another to create new works. I print my blocks on silk and cotton and then sew those fabrics into panels or decorative home items.”

This exhibit is FREE, and the public is encouraged to attend.

This exhibit will be on display until February 21, 2025.
